Offshore staff
ABERDEEN, UK – AMEC will hook up and commission the two new Clair Ridge platforms BP is installing west of the Shetland Islands.
The work, scheduled to run through March 2016, is valued at £68 million ($102 million). AMEC has completedengineering and project management services for the project.
At its peak, the new assignment will be performed by about 800 AMEC and completions specialist qedi’s personnel. They will support construction and installation of the two new bridge-linked platforms, which will include new production, accommodation and drilling facilities, and newsubsea pipelines tied into the existing export systems.
AMEC plans to minimize offshore commissioning activity in this harsh region. Doing as much of the necessary work as possible onshore also should maximize the production ramp up and keep flaring to a minimum, the company says.
The new platforms are expected to be installed in 2015, followed by start-up the following year. The £4.5-billion ($6.8-billion) project is designed to access 640 MMbbl of recoverable oil, delivering up to 120,000 b/d at peak, and extending theClair field’s life to 2050.
