SINGAPORE – Sembcorp Marine subsidiary SMOE has a letter of intent to build the topsides for the Ivar Aasen platform in the Norwegian North Sea.
The $900-million EPC contract was awarded by Ivar Aasen operator Det norske oljeselskap. SMOE will work with engineering partner Wood Group Mustang on the project.
The process, drilling, and quarters platform will be installed in a water depth of 112 m (367 ft). Facilities on the 13,700-metric ton (15,101-ton) topsides, which will be integrated with a 70-man living quarters/helideck, will include modules for process, gas compression, separation, water injection, flare boom, metering, and utilities.
Construction is expected to start in December 2013 with sail-away scheduled for March 2016. First oil is due in late 2016. The Ivar Aasen field contains an estimated 150 MMboe of reserves.
