HAMILTON, Bermuda – Asia Offshore Drilling has taken delivery of the newbuild jackupAOD 1 from Keppel FELS in Singapore.
The rig now mobilizes to the Arabian Gulf for a contract withSaudi Aramco offshore, with operations due to start in April.
This was thefirst of three KFELS B Class jackups under construction that Asia Offshore Drilling has commissioned from Keppel FELS. They are designed to operate in water depths of 400 ft (122 m), drilling depths up to 30,000 ft (9,144 m), and to accommodate a crew of 150.
Features include customized offline pipe handling and stand building, enhanced mud systems, improved deck layouts, and upgraded safety equipment.
