TEHRAN, Iran --More drilling rigs are now working on the South Pars gas field offshore Iran than on the extension into Qatari waters (North field), according to Pars Oil and Gas Co.
There area currently 15 rigs are active on various phases of the South Pars development, according to Mousa Souri, POGC managing director, as quoted by the Mehr News Agency.
"The number of gas field's total drilling rigs will reach 20 by the end of current Iranian calendar year (March 19, 2013)," he said.
Souri added that up to 28 rigs could be active by end-September 2013.
Since March 20, Iran has drilled 124 offshore and onshore wells on its oil and gas fields. CurrentlySouth Pars is producing 300 MMcm/d (2.1 bcf/d) of gas.
