STAVANGER, Norway – The deck for Statoil’s Gudrun platform in the Norwegian North Sea has arrived in Haugesund, Norway, following a month-long voyage from Thailand.
Aibel supplied the deck, with engineering performed in Singapore. Aker Solutions designed and assembled the steel jacket. Saipem is responsible for transport and installation. The jacket was manufactured in Aker’s Verdal yard, the accommodation block at Stord, and the helicopter deck in China.
Statoil says it applied various measures to prevent schedule and cost overruns. These included close follow-up with the various suppliers; dividing the project into smaller budget units to stimulate and highlight potential savings; and strict change management to prevent escalation of sub-projects.
