LONDON ā€“ Chariot Oil & Gas has launched a 3D seismic survey in block C19 offshore Mauritania, the company announced. Chariot, which acquired a 90% operated interest in the block in April 2012, has contracted Fugro-Geoteam AS to carry out the 3,500 sq km (1,350 sq mi) program in water depths ranging from 30 m (98 ft) up to 2,000 m (6,560 ft). The survey is expected to take 90 days to complete.

ā€œThis 3D seismic survey fulfills Chariotā€™s initial three year work commitment within block C19 and is intended to identify structural and stratigraphic traps, with the latter in particular offering potential for large trap sizes,ā€ Chariot said in a release.

The UK-based independent holds offshore licenses on eight blocks in Namibia through its Enigma Oil & Gas subsidiary, block C19 in Mauritania and three blocks in Morocco. All of the blocks are currently in the exploration phase.
