Offshore staff
OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has approved use of the semisubmersible Transocean Leader for production drilling and completion on the Tyrihans field in the Norwegian Sea.
Operated by Statoil, Tyrihans is 133 km (82.6 mi) offshore Frøya, western Norway. It has been developed with subsea facilities linked to the Kristin field complex, 29 km (18 mi) to the northwest.
Drilling will likely start in mid-December and continue for 360 days.
In the North Sea, PSA authorized ConocoPhillips Skandinavia to use the Ekofisk 2/4-VB subsea facility for water injection on theEkofisk field. The equipment will inject water into the reservoir to stimulate oil production from the field. Water injection started on Ekofisk in 1987, and has helped improved recovery.
The new facility, located 3 km (1.8 mi) south of the field center, comprises a subsea template with eight water injection wells. It will be connected to an existing pipeline between Ekofisk 2/4 K and Eldfisk 2/4 E via a new 5-km (3-mi) long pipeline, and remote-controlled from the 2/4 K installation.
Start-up is expected by year-end or early next year.
