Green light given for latest Ormen Lange subsea template

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has authorized AS Norske Shell to use new subsea facilities on the Ormen Lange gas field in the Norwegian Sea.

OSLO, Norway --Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has authorized AS Norske Shell to use new subsea facilities on the Ormen Lange gas field in the Norwegian Sea.

This covers thesubsea template C and manifold with associated intra-field pipelines, intrafield umbilical, and pipeline end modules.

Planned start-up of production from the first well on subsea template C is Oct. 14.

Ormen Lange is in the Møre basin in the southern Norwegian Sea. Water depth at the site varies from 800-1,100 m (2,624-3,609 ft).

The field is being developed in several phases with24 wells from three subsea templates.
