OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has cleared Total (NYSE:TOT, Paris:FP FP) to use a subsea facility and associated new process and control equipment at the Heimdal Gas Centre in the North Sea.
This is in production license 102C in block 25/5, 24 km (15 mi) northeast of the Heimdal complex and 7-10 km (4.3-6.2 mi) from subsea installation on Skirne and Byggve, both connected to Heimdal. Production is due to start on Sept. 29, and continue for about three years.
The Heimdal gas field has an integrated drilling, production, and accommodation platform (HMP1). This is linked to the Heimdal Riser Platform by a bridge constructed when the Heimdal Gas Centre was established.
Heimdal acts primarily as a process center for other fields. Huldra, Skirne, and Vale export gas to Heimdal, and gas from Oseberg is also transported via Heimdal.
