Development will be coordinated with Lundin-operatedEdvard Grieg field development, with one platform built for each field. The Edvard Grieg platform will supply the Ivar Aasen field with electric power. A power supply scheme from shore is also under review that would encompass the Ivar Aasen, Edvard Grieg, Dagny, and Johan Sverdrup fields.
Ivar Aasen is about 175 km (109 mi) west of Karmøy.
Det norske’s environmental solutions for Ivar Aasen include reinjection of produced water into the formation. Cost of the development is estimated at $4.22 billion, to be invested during 2013-2018. Start-up is slated for 3Q 2016.
