Shell contracts Framo for subsea booster pump at Draugen

Norske Shell has awarded a $100-million contract to Framo Engineering for a complete subsea multi-phase booster pump system for Draugen field offshore Norway.

BERGEN, Norway –Norske Shell has awarded a $100-million contract to Framo Engineering for a complete subsea multi-phase booster pump system for Draugen field offshore Norway.
Framo, now a Schlumberger company, will supply a complete system for topside power and control, the power and control umbilical, and the complete subsea pump module and manifold. The subsea multiphase booster pump system, which will be installed at some 250 m (820 ft) water depth, is designed to contribute to increased oil production in Draugen.
The equipment will be assembled and tested at Framo’s new facility in Hosoey, Norway, forinstallation planned the summer of 2014.
