LONDON– Construction of the Bualuang Bravo platform for the Greater Bualuang project offshore Thailand should be completed by the end of this month.
Operator Salamander has contracted Thai-Nippon Steel’sK1 HLV heavy-lift vessel for installation and commissioning of the platform.
Load out and installation should be under way by mid-October. The platform should be ready for development drilling from end-October, six weeks later than originally forecast.
Construction of theAtwood Mako jackup has been completed on schedule. The rig is due for load out before end-August, and should be on location the first week of September.
Initially it will undertake a short development drilling program from the Bualuang Alpha platform in September. In October, it will drill two exploration wells on the Greater Bualuang acreage, including the Bualuang Northwest Terrace prospect.
Thereafter, the rig will move to the newly installedBravo platform for an extended period of development drilling on the Bualuang field and the East Terrace.
Salamander also operates theNorth Kutei concession offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Modifications and equipment installation have been completed on the Ocean Generalsemisubmersible. The rig is now under charter by a consortium of four companies under a rig-share agreement.
It will mobilize by end-August, and should start drilling for Salamander this fall on the South Kecapi prospect, the first of at least four exploration wells planned on North Kutei.
