HOUSTON – Oil production has started from the second development well at the Bacchus field in the UK central North Sea, according to partner Endeavour International (NYSE:END; LSE:ENDV).
Apache operates the development in block 22/06. The latest horizontal well, Bacchus West, penetrated Jurassic-aged Fulmar reservoir sandstones and logged 889-ft (271-m) pay in three sections.
The well is producing about 8,500 b/d at restricted choke rates. Combined output from the two Bacchus wells is 13,000 b/d.
Based on data gained from the second well, the partners have decided to monitor reservoir performance before deciding on placement of the next development well, to insure optimization of the entire reservoir.
At the Endeavour-operated Rochelle field in the same sector, theDiamond Ocean Nomad has started operations to drill the first of two planned development wells. Modifications to the host Scott platform should be largely completed this summer, in readiness for start-up of Rochelle later in the year. Installation of the pipeline and seabed manifolds should get under way soon.
Endeavour has a 44% interest in the Rochelle development which spans blocks 15/26b, 15/26c, and 15/27.
During 2Q 2012, the company completed acquisition of an additional 23.43% interest in theChevron-operated Alba field, and expects to close transactions for the MacCulloch and Nicol fields by early October.
