TEHRAN, Iran – Production drilling on the South Pars Phase 14 project offshore Iran will start next month following the jacket installation.
The $6.14-billion project involves drilling a total of 44 “descriptive” and development wells, according to a report carried by Pars Oil & Gas Co. (POGC). Of these, 22 wells will be drilled by National Iranian Drilling Co.
Offshore pipelay is 55% complete, and work on the onshore pipeline also will start in August.
Phase 14 is designed to deliver approximately 56 MMcm/d (1.9 bcf/d) of sour gas and 75,000 b/d of gas condensates. The project is being handled by eight Iranian contractors.
According to Mousa Souri, managing director of POGC, Iran plans to hold a new tender for purchasing and procurement of a range ofsour gas pipes for the new phases of South Pars. The total pipe length required will be between 300 and 400 km (186 and 248 mi), with a diameter of up to 32-in. for the offshore section.
