OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has given Lundin Norway the go-ahead for exploration drilling offshore northern Norway.
The semisubmersibleTransocean Arctic will perform drilling and production testing of appraisal well 7120/6-3 in 327 m (1,073 ft) of water in license PL 490. A side track (7120/6-3 A) may also be drilled.
The entire program, including the side track, could take up to 133 days. Drilling should start once the rig has completed the 16/2-13 appraisal well on theJohan Sverdrup field in the North Sea.
PSA has also authorized Talisman Energy Norge to use the jackupRowan Stavanger for three side track wells on the Varg field in the North Sea, in 87 m (285 ft) water depth.
Wells 15/12-A-3 B, 15/12-A-12 E, and 15/12-A-1 B should take a total of 62 days to drill.
