ABERDEEN, UK – Britain’s government has awarded Senergy a framework agreement to look at ways of prolonging production from the UK North Sea.
The three-year project will support the work of the Department for Energy and Climate Change to maximize recovery from existing oil and gas developments.
Les Coats, Senergy’s general manager Europe, said: “We will be drawing upon a variety of our technical and professional disciplines within Senergy to meet the remit of the contract and provide a detailed assessment of the challenges and opportunities as they exist.
“This agreement comes on the back of an initial three-year contract with the government, which also involved looking at enhanced oil recovery…This project has extra significance given the popular belief that we are at a critical point in terms of deciding which direction the North Sea industry now needs to take to ensure its long-term future.”
Senergy will assess the most effective ways of maximizing hydrocarbon recovery from the UKCS via proper stewardship of existing fields and deployment of the latest technology for new field projects. It will also contribute to wider, regional studies to evaluate potential of unexplored areas or discoveries that have so far proven to be hard to develop.
