LONDON –Salamander Energy has mapped about 20 leads and prospects as result of its technical analysis on the North Kutei basin offshore Indonesia. ISIS Petroleum Consultants completed an independent study of the area and estimates the four most mature prospects contain gross mean unrisked prospective resource of 676 MMboe.
A consortium is negotiating a letter of intent for the semisubmersibleOcean Generaldrilling rig and expects to spud four wells in the basin acreage starting in 4Q 2012.
In work for the Gulf of Thailand, Salamander says construction of theBualuang Bravo wellhead platform is on schedule. Delivery and installation is expected in 3Q 2012. The jackup Atwood Makois expected to mobilize to the Bualuang area in 3Q 2012 on a year-long contract for development drilling from the platform.
Inoffshore block B8/38 in the Gulf of Thailand, development drilling with the Ensco-53 rig on the existing Bualuang platform is under way and the Bualuang Far East prospect will be tested as part of the current drilling campaign.
In block G4/50, surrounding the B8/38, Salamander completed a 3D seismic survey earlier this year and has identified over 25 prospect and lead areas. Interpretation of the 3D data is ongoing and the prospects will be firmed up ahead of planned exploration drilling in the second half of this year.
