OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has sanctioned Centrica Resources’ (CAN:LN) use of the production facilities on the Vale gas condensate field in the Norwegian North Sea.
This is connected with thecompany’s assumption of operatorship from Statoil of Vale in license PL 036. Centrica has a 75.8% interest in Vale, the remainder held by Total E&P Norge.
Vale is 16 km (9.9 mi) north of the Heimdal complex, and has been developed via a seabed template tied to the Heimdal platform by a pipeline system.
Hydro operated the initial development, which came onstream in May 2002, before merging with Statoil in 2007.
In the Norwegian Sea, PSA has authorized Statoil to use the semisubTransocean Searcher to re-complete well 6407/1A-4- H on the Tyrihans field in PL 091.
Water depth at the site varies from 268-288 m (879-945 ft). Activity should start on May 16 and continue to end-March 2013.
Statoil also has clearance from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate for exploration drilling in North Sea license PL 552, 10 km (6.2 mi) north of theGullfaks field.
The semisubOcean Vanguard will drill well 34/7-35 S after completing another wildcat (15/5-A7H) for Statoil PL 048B.
PL 552, comprising block 34/7, was awarded in February 2010 under Norway’s APA 2009 licensing round. This will be the first well drilled on the permit.
