Technip to lay shallow-water South China Sea export pipeline for CNOOC project

Technip (Paris:TEC) has won a pipeline installation contract from Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd. for the Liwan 3-1 project in the Pearl River Mouth basin of the South China Sea.

PARIS –Technip (Paris:TEC) has won a pipeline installation contract from Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd. for the Liwan 3-1 project in the Pearl River Mouth basin of the South China Sea.

Some 300 km (186 mi) south of Hong Kong, the 260-km (162-mi) long pipeline will link theLiwan gas platform to China National Offshore Oil Corp.’s Gaolan gas plant.

Technip’s contract covers the shallow-water portion and includes installation of 160 km (100 mi) of 30-in (76-cm) export oil/gas two-phase pipeline from the platform to a water depth of 70 m (230 ft).

The contract is scheduled for completion by year-end using theGlobal 1201pipelay vessel.

Saipem has the contract to install thedeepwater portion of the pipeline.
