SYDNEY, Australia – ROC Oil (ASX:ROC) says the pre-development phase of the Balai Cluster Small Field Risk Service Contract offshore Sarawak is progressing.
Recent work includes fabrication of four wellhead platforms, with load-out and installation due to start in mid-year. A drilling rig contract has been agreed, again expected to start mid-year; and conversion is under way of a vessel to an Early Production Vessel (EPV).
The pre-development phase should be completed by next February.
At theZhao Dong oil field in Bohai Bay, offshore China, ROC says 20 development wells should be drilled this year, comprising 16 producers and four injectors. The program started in mid-February with the three new producer wells and two workovers at the C and D fields.
Technical work continues on the Zhanghai and Chenghai blocks. A second appraisal well is planned on Zhanghai this fall.
In the Beibu GulfWZ 6-12 and WZ 12-8 West oil field development, again offshore China, planning continues for drilling of four near-field exploration/appraisal wells this year.
ROC says several of the wells will likely be drilled from the WZ 6-12 wellhead platform following its installation later this spring. If commercial, the wells could be completed and included as additional producers for the Beibu Gulf project
Finally, in the Bass Strait offshore southeast Australia, activities continue on theBasker-Manta-Gummy oil fields to enter the non-production phase.
First-quarter achievements included removal of theCrystal Ocean’s detachable turret mooring; trenching of a subsea flow line in the field; and offshore deconstruction and well intervention activities.
