HONG KONG – CNOOC Limited has discovered more gas in the Yinggehai basin of the western South China Sea.
The Dongfang (DF)13-2 discovery well encountered gas pay with total thickness of 35 m (115 ft) in a high-temperature/high-pressure reservoir, in a water depth of 65 m (213 ft). This follows the successful appraisal of the middle formation of the DF 13-1 gas field in 2010.
DF13-2 was drilled the north of central sag in the Yinggehai basin of western South China Sea. During testing, the well flowed at an average rate of 42.4 MMcf/d.
