SANDNES, Norway – First gas has flowed from the Marulk field subsea development in the Norwegian Sea.
The field has been tied back to the Statoil-operatedNorne FPSO. Statoil is also a partner in Marulk, which is operated by Eni.
Marulk is a gas and condensate field under, with total reserves estimated at 74.7 MMboe. Development involves two subsea well completions.
Norway’s Oil and Energy Ministry approved the development plan in July 2010. Total investment has been close to $690 million.
Eni has overall responsibility for operations on the Marulk field, including reservoir management, future drilling and any further field development. However, Statoil will be responsible for operation of the field’s subsea installations.
Marulk is in license PL122 in Quadrant 6507, 30 km (18.6 mi) southwest of theNorne FPSO.
