HOUSTON – Anadarko (NYSE:APC) has completed the drilling portion of its planned appraisal program on its gas discoveries in Rovuma basin Offshore Area 1, off Mozambique.
The latest well, Barquentine-4, was the northernmost drilled to date, 19 mi (30 km) north of the southern end of theLagosta structure. It encountered around 525 net ft (160 m) of gas pay.
Anadarko has since renamed the entire discovery area Prosperidade (Prosperity). It takes in the Windjammer, Barquentine, Lagosta and Camarao discoveries, and contains recoverable resources estimated in the range 17 to 30-plus tcf.
The drillship will next mobilize to the northern section of the block to top-set the Atum prospect, and then start drilling the Golfinho prospect. A second drillship operating in the area is continuing an extensive testing program within the Prosperidade complex.
