MOSCOW – Gazprom plans to start gas production this year from the Kirinskoye gas/condensate field offshore Sakhalin Island, under the Sakhalin III project.
This will involve the first ever use of asubsea production system in Russia.
A gathering manifold has been placed over the field to intake the gas mixture from the wells, and a 28-km (17.4-mi) subsea pipeline has been laid to the coast.
Later this year, the new semisubsPolyarnaya Zvezda and Severnoye Siyaniye will start production drilling.
In the second half of 2012, two wells will be ready to produce gas, including a converted well, with six wells set to be in place before the end of 2014. This will lift annual gas production to 4.2 bcm (148 bcf) from 2015.
Gas will be treated at an onshore processing facility designed to receive gas from Kirinskoye and other subsequent fields in the Sakhalin III project.
This facility will be connected to the Sakhalin main compressor station of the overlandSakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas transmission system (GTS) pipeline, of which more than 100 km (62 mi) have so far been laid.
In addition, Gazprom has completed construction of a terminal providing pressure reduction and gas metering facilities to handle gas supplied from the Sakhalin I project into the GTS. This is due to enter service in April, improving reliability of gas supply to consumers in the Russian Far East region.
Gazprom estimates the Kirinskoye field reserves at 137 bcm (4.8 tcf). Other finds in the area are Yuzhno-Kirinskoye (564 bcm/2 tcf) and Mynginskoye (19.9 bcm/703 bcf).
