Offshore staff
STAVANGER, Norway – First steel has been cut at the Kværner Stord shipyard in Norway for the topsides for the new Eldfisk 2/7 platform in the North Sea.
Work on the same project is under way at the Energomontaz yard in Gdynia, Poland, which is an experienced subcontractor for Kværner, according to Eldfisk operator ConocoPhillips Norge.
Construction is also due to start this month at Vistal in Gdynia and Mostotal Pomorse in Gdansk.
ConocoPhillips is establishing a site office at the Stord yard. Project management for Eldfisk 2/7S will move from Fornebu to Stord this fall.
Next month, fabrication will begin of the accommodation module at STX in Finland; of the steel jacket begins at the Dragados yard in Cadiz, southern Spain; and of pipes at Energop in Warsaw.
The jackets should be installed on the Eldfisk field during summer of 2013, while the topsides should be completed at Stord in 2014.
Eldfisk 2/7S will be an integrated wellhead (40 slots), process and living quarter platform, with 154 beds. It will be bridge linked to the Eldfisk complex, and should enter service either late 2014 or early 2015.
