Blocks nominated for next Norwegian offshore licensing round

Thirty-seven companies have nominated blocks for inclusion in Norway’s 22nd licensing round.

OSLO, Norway –Thirty-seven companies have nominated blocks for inclusion in Norway’s 22nd licensing round.

Nominations covered 228 blocks or part-blocks, and nearly half were proposed by two or more companies. The Barents Sea attracted most interest, but there were also nominations across large tracts of the Norwegian Sea.

The Norwegian authorities will now draw up a proposal for blocks that should be included in the licensing round. The government will make the final selection, based on a comprehensive assessment process, and will invite bids this summer. Awards should follow in spring 2013.
