HOUSTON – Coastal Energy Co. reports continuing success offshore Thailand at its Bua Ban North A-11 well.

A-11 is a delineation well for the Lower Miocene (M100) reservoir and also an appraisal well for the deeper Miocene (M500). Both reservoirs were encountered as expected and showed better quality sands than in the nearby A-01 well.

M100 contained 47 ft (14 m) of net pay with 29% porosity and M500 showed 9 ft (2 ¾ m) of 26% porosity sands. This compares to 32 ft (9 ¾ m) at 25% and 5 ½ ft (1.7 m) at 25% for A-01.

“Following the results of the A-11 well, we will begin planning future wells in this area to target the deeper M500 sands similar to what has been successful for us in the northern part of the field,” said Randy Bartley, president and CEO of Coastal Energy.
