STAVANGER, Norway – BP’s Skarv FPSO has arrived at the field location in the Norwegian Sea.
The FPSO will be moored via up to 15 suction anchors with strong chain and wires connected to the vessel's turret, an operation expected to take up to 12 days to complete. It involves use of two installation vessels with ROV operations.
Once installed, preparations will continue for hook up of flow lines in September. Skarv is due to start production in 4Q 2011.
Prior to departure from the Halsnøyfjord, the first CHS crew change helicopter landed on the vessel for briefings led by the pilots on the type of helicopter used (S-92).
There will be five weekly crew change flights to Skarv from Brønnøysund heliport, in addition to the daily crew changes flights for the semisub Polar Pioneer, currently drilling development wells on the Skarv field.
