Offshore staff
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Shell continues to pursue permission to drill in the Arctic offshore Alaska. The US Environmental Protection Agency has released for comment a revised draft air pollution permit for the prospective work.
The permit revisions by Shell follow an earlier permit that was blocked by the Environmental Appeals Board following complaints by environmentalist groups. The changes address the appeals board issues and would reduce air pollutants 50% from the original permit limits mostly from application of NO2standards that came into effect after approval of the original permit.
