ROME – Transocean’s jackup GSF Key Manhattan has completed development drilling on the Guendalina field 47 km (29 mi) off northeast Italy for operator ENI.
According to partner Mediterranean Oil & Gas, the Guendalina 2 well was drilled to TD of 3,290 m (10,794 ft) MD, and all expected gas-bearing levels were verified. The well also confirmed the presence and thickness of the main gas target PL3-J3, and is gas bearing.
Evaluation of the deeper exploration gas target (PL3-K) continues, and will be subject to further G&G studies (including seismic inversion) to assess future development options.
Guendalina 3 was drilled to TD of 3,164 m (10,380 ft) MD, six days ahead of schedule, and again, gas-bearing levels were as expected.
The well confirmed the presence and thickness of the two main gas targets PL3-I1
& PL3-J3, each of which are gas-bearing. An additional gas level (PL3-J), not included in the original development plan, was also positively evaluated and will be completed for production.
Both wells will be tested for production by the end of June. Construction of the platform deck is 70% complete, and the deck should be installed at the beginning of July 2011. Layout of the subsea pipeline should start this month.
