TRONDHEIM, Norway -- Det norske oljeselskap aims to submit a plan for development and operation this summer for the Jetta discovery in the Norwegian North Sea.
CEO Erik Haugane says the company is entering a new phase. “We will continue to engage in extensive exploration activities, but with the planned submission of a PDO for Jetta, we will pass an important milestone on our way to become an oil company that is fully capable of carrying out developments and production from operated fields.”
Jetta will be a subsea tieback to the Esso-operated Jotun field. Production could start in early 2013.
Det norske is also in dialogue with its partners on the Draupne field license farther south to determine an optimum technical solution. The two options under review are a fixed production platform or a floating production unit combined with a fixed wellhead platform.
During 2011, Det norske will participate in a further eight exploration wells in 2011. One of these will likely target the Skalle prospect in license PL 438 in the Barents Sea.
