ATHENS -- Energean Oil & Gas has drilled, tested, and put into production a new well on its Prinos field in the Gulf of Kavala, offshore Greece.
The PA-35 infill well, which reached a TD of 2,975 m (9,760 ft), is the first of a series of drilling programs and interventions the company has planned under its “Prinos 5000” project. Its aim is to increase daily production this year from the Prinos development license to 5,000 boe/d.
PA-35 was drilled by the recently revamped jackup GSP Saturn. It was designed primarily to produce oil from the B and C reservoirs.
Energean says drilling confirmed the presence of the B and C reservoirs at 2,859 m (9,380 ft) MD and 2,909 m (9,544 ft) MD, respectively. Several oil-bearing intervals were identified while drilling these zones and via subsequent geological and petrophysical logs.
This has increased upside production potential from PA-35. The oil-bearing zones are being retained as future recompletion intervals that will be exploited after a model has been established for the A1 and A2 reservoirs.
This latest well is flowing at a stabilized rate of 1,000 b/d of oil, lifting Energean’s daily production to 3,000 boe/d. The company estimates PA-35 total reserves at 1.8MM bbl.
Its next scheduled intervention will be the recompletion of the Epsilon well.
Development of the Prinos field began in 1979. Offshore facilities include two four-leg, 12 slot drilling platforms Alpha and Beta; an unmanned gas production platform Kappa; and an eight-leg processing platform Delta, providing three-phase separation, crude dehydration, oil pumping, sour gas dehydration, produced water treatment, water injection, and sweet gas-lift.
Crude oil is exported through an 8-in. (20.3-cm), 18-km (11-mi) subsea pipeline is connected to the Sigma onshore oil and gas processing plant. Dehydrated gas is exported through a 12-in. (30.5-cm), 18-km sour gas line.
