OSLO, Norway -- BG Norge has approval from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to start drilling on its Gaupe subsea development in the North Sea.
The semisubmersibleWest Alpha will drill wells 15/12-E1H and 6/3-A1H in production license 292, 240 km (149 mi) southwest of Stavanger, and close to the UK offshore median line. Water depth is around 85 m (279 ft).
Drilling should start next month, and could take 140 days to complete.
Gaupe is being development via BG’s Armada complex in the UK sector. Production is due to start this fall.
