MOSCOW -- Gazprom has performed horizontal drilling off eastern Russia, to accommodate part of the new Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok Gas Transmission System (GTS) trunkline.
This project, initiated in July 2009, is designed to transport gas to the Khabarovsk Krai, Sakhalin Oblast and Primorsky Krai regions. The pipeline will have annual capacity of 6 bcm, and is due on stream this summer.
The 6-km (3.7-mi) offshore section under the Eastern Bosphorus Strait was drilled to accommodate the main string of the pipeline between Vladivostok and Russky Island.
