TOKYO -- INPEX Masela has farmed out 10% of the Masela block in the Arafura Sea off eastern Indonesia to PT EMP Energi Indonesia.
The 3,221-sq km (1,243-sq mi) block includes the Abadi gas field, discovered in 2000. The field was appraised later by six wells which confirmed sufficient volumes of gas for a floating LNG development.
Following the farm-out, which leaves INPEX with a 90% operating interest, the partners plan to move into the front-end engineering design phase, and to seek support from Indonesia’s government for early commercial production.
