SINGAPORE -- Sembcorp Marine’s Sembawang Shipyard has won two FPSO conversion/upgrade contracts with a total value of $56.7 million.
The first contract, awarded by BW Offshore, involves conversion of the 97,172 dwt tankerBW Genie into a floating production unit (FPU), including repairs and life extension works to allow the vessel to operate for another 20 years.
Sembawang’s scope extends to detailed engineering and fabrication, and the installation of new power generation equipment, boilers, and eight new topside modules. The yard will also fabricate and install a new helideck and flare tower, and will refurbish and upgrade the accommodation facilities.
The FPU will be installed over the Terang Sirasun Batur field offshore Indonesia via a new 12-point mooring system. The completed FPU should be re-delivered to its owners during Q4 2011.
Sembawang’s second contract, from Bluewater Energy Services in Hoofdorp, the Netherlands, involves upgrading of the FPSOGlas Dowr, which formerly worked in the UK North Sea, for new duty on the Eni-operated Kitan field in the Timor Sea.
Here the program comprises repairs and life extension work to allow the vessel to operate for a further 10 years. Work will include upgrading of the vessel’s internal turret mooring and transfer systems, and also its marine, utility, electrical and communication, safety, control, monitoring, and production systems.
It should be re-delivered in 2Q 2011.
