ABERDEEN -- The Met Office has launched a new version of Safesee, its online marine weather forecast service.
The upgrade includes a global map viewer that allows decision-makers in marine and offshore industries to visualize weather elements over their operating sites.
The new map viewer helps bring the weather to life over a selected area, with the weather elements animating through time. In addition, sites can be viewed as locations on the map and a hover-over summary shows the forecast conditions against operating thresholds. This helps the operator to make decisions that minimize downtime due to bad weather and improve safety, the Met Office says.
