CALGARY, Canada -- A discovery has been made with the Blackbird well on block 20/2a in the UK North Sea, according to Nexen.
The well encountered 111 ft (34 m) of net pay in multiple zones. It was drill-stem tested and flowed at an average restricted rate of 3,800 b/d of oil through a 34/64-in. (1.3-cm) choke. Analysis indicates high quality crude oil in good quality reservoir sands, the company says.
The well has been suspended for use as a production well. The company plans to develop it as a subsea tie-back to the nearby FPSOEttrick.
