SEOUL -- Gas reserves in its three Gulf of Martaban fields have recoverable reserves of 4.8 - 8.6 tcf, says Daewoo International Corp.
The fields, in A-1 and A-3 areas offshroe Myanmar, were evaluated by Gaffney, Cline & Associates Ltd.
First production is anticipated by late 2009, says Daewoo president Lee Tae-yong. He also said India, Thailand, and China were interested in purchasing the gas.
Daewoo holds 60% of the blocks; Korean Gas Corp, 10%; Oil and Natural Gas Corp. of India, 20%; and Gas Authority of India Ltd., 10%.
