ONCG awards 2 installation contracts to McDermott

Two installation contracts are awarded by India's Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. (ONGC) to J. Ray McDermott for installation services. Total value is estimated at $80 million.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Two installation contracts are awarded by India's Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. (ONGC) to J. Ray McDermott for installation services. Total value is estimated at $80 million.

The first contract, from Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. is for installation of an eight-leg, 3,516-metric ton jacket with 16 skirt piles and four 72-in diameter main piles, and pipeline spools, two bridges, six decks and modules weighing about 1,100 metric tons each in ONGC's Vasai East Development 80 km northwest of Mumbai. Installation is scheduled for 4Q07.

The second contract, from Larsen & Toubro Ltd., is for installation of four wellhead platforms, three connecting bridges and two subsea pipelines in Mumbai High and Bassein fields for ONGC's MH-B and S-4 wellhead platform project.

The four wellhead platforms are in an average water depth of 60 m. Three of these platforms, NEA, NHA, and N2A, will be in the Mumbai High , and the fourth, BF, will be in Bassein. All jackets consist of 64-in and 66-in diameter main piles.

Two pipelines of 6 in and 16 in (CRA clad pipeline) diameter totaling over 8 km in length also will be installed.

The entire project is due for completion by the end of 1Q07.
